To our patients turning 65: If you have been a patient in our office for over a year, we will accept your Medicare Insurance and supplment. We still encourage you to select a senior plan. For our established Medicare patients: If you have been seen with Medicare Insurance before January 2008, we have elected to continue to accept your Medicare insurance. We urge you to join a senior plan. As before, we do not accept Medicare assignment: This means that we collect our fees from you in the office at the time of your visit. Medicare allows us to charge up to 15% above the standard Medicare fee, depending upon the service. We do this because Medicare delays payment and timely payment is critical for us to stay in business. We will bill Medicare for you, and Medicare will reimburse you their standard allowed amount. As with all insurances, you must present your Medicare card at each visit. If you have a secondary insurance, you must present that card as well. |
Please note: Some services, particularly preventative care, are not covered by Medicare. These include physical exams, strep. tests, and most immunizations. If we think that Medicare will not cover a service, we are obliged to inform you of that, and to let you know much the service will cost you. You must then sign and date a form acknowledging that you have been informed that your service may not be covered by Medicare and how much it costs. |
